About the Artist

Cory Gray was born a southern California native. Like so many kids he began drawing at a young age and developed a love of art. Attending many art classes throughout public school, he began to show a flare for Cartoon Art. Cory submitted material to become his high school newspaper cartoonist and created program covers for the school theater dept. productions and worked and painted sets and even did various t-shirt designs for the senior sports teams. He got voted most talented senior for his graduating class. It would seem that the dedication and practice convinced him that this was a definite calling and a passion he couldn't pass up. Inspired by traditional artists such as Frank Frazetta, Tim Hildebrandt, Rodney Matthews, George Perez and a slew of fantasy masters, Cory has a distinct love for Sci-Fi and Fantasy art.

Cory earned college credited courses and decided to enroll in a more advanced and concentrated program in Visual Communications with a focus for commercial art. In 1993 Cory received an Associate of Art Degrees from both the Colorado Institute of Art and Platte College for Digital Graphics. Seeing that it was a time to start moving over from the traditional art applications to the digital world of art yet still relying on freehand drawing and creativity to accomplish the best of both worlds.

Since then he has become an amazing digital artist, creating countless pieces for print production with expertise in high end spot separation screen print design. His recognition in both Adobe's Illustrator CS Bible 1 & 2 and his artwork featured on the cover of Printwear magazine are still of significant pride to him.

Cory's visual accomplishments span over a diverse range of creative venues, from wall murals, silkscreen design, a variety of graphic solutions for various forms of print media, product packaging and advertising and creating character concepts for children's books and potential animated productions. He has also developed an entire line of characters for greetings and gift cards and accompanied merchandise.

In 1997 Cory began a career in screen print production and design working from the bottom up and moving on to become a contributing senior designer at Image West Apparel for 12 years. He is also responsible for doing several pieces of demonstration art for trade shows in the screen print field to add luster to high end screen press companies with a flare for working on black garments in particular. In 2005 he volunteered to become an art dept. lead for a non profit organization that focused on local children's charities and allowed him the opportunity to create using licensed characters from the ever pop culture favorite, Star Wars, a passion that he is fanatic over. The last two years he has been the feature artist for promotional art for Denver's Sci-Fi Convention, STARFEST.

Cory is currently contributing Graphic and Illustrative Technique in the Screen Printing field as a freelance artist. He lives in San Diego, California not far from where he grew up.
